  • Outstanding Nursery Provision at St Peter's

    Tue 06 Mar 2018 G Kiddle

We are delighted to advise you, that when St. Peter’s CE Primary School opens on the 1 September 2018, the nursery will also open. We have appointed South Hills, a family run group of nurseries, to run the facility. They aim to provide ‘a quality of care and education for the tiniest to the tallest members of our community, encouraging each to achieve their potential in a safe and stimulating environment’.

Their last four Ofsted Inspections have graded their nursery ‘outstanding’ in all areas. The summary of findings from the Ofsted team were:

    · Children’s behaviour is exemplary

    · Management and staff have an extremely successful partnership with parents and carers

    · Leadership is inspirational

    · Management and staff place an excellent focus on children’s mathematical learning

    · Management and staff have an excellent knowledge and understanding of how children learn

Staff, both at the school and the nursery, will work closely together to ensure the best possible outcomes for children.

The Nursery will be open from 8am until 6pm daily, 51 weeks of the year – closing between Christmas and the New Year. For children of school age, the nursery will offer both a breakfast and after school club.

Should you wish to utilize these facilities you will need to contact South Hills directly either through their website at www.southhillsschool.com clicking on contacts and select St. Peter’s from the drop-down menu. Alternatively you can call them on 01722 744971 or email at admin@southhillsschool.com.

  • Meet the Headteacher

    Mon 18 Dec 2017 O Martindale

    Dear Parents/Carers,

I am delighted to be writing my first letter as the new Headteacher for St. Peter’s Church of England Primary Academy. I am passionate about education and feel privileged to be leading the establishment of a brand new school. My vision for St. Peter’s is that we will create a school with exceptional standards and a culture of critical thinking, tolerance and aspiration for pupils and staff alike.

I have worked in a number of schools as a teacher and leader. As a Deputy Head in two challenging settings and, most recently, as a Headteacher in Portsmouth, I have learnt that every child is capable of loving learning and achieving their potential. I have high expectations of myself, staff and parents in this endeavour and in doing so, create an environment where children thrive and succeed.

Throughout my career in school leadership, I have maintained a passion and expertise in primary maths, working to support a number of schools and teachers in this subject. Designing creative and rigorous curricula, planning exciting and challenging lessons and enabling enthusiastic, skilled teachers is my greatest passion and when we get this right, children love school.

Since my appointment, I have been in regular contact with Mark Lacey, CEO of the academy trust and with Yvonne Morrison, Project Manager. One of our key priorities is to start building a shared history with the emerging community. Links with the church will underpin the ethos of the school. Transparency and good communication with parents will enhance this further. Over the next few weeks and months, we will be holding a number of events to give me a chance to meet you and for us to work together on the vision and values we want for the school. My daughter has just started in reception class so I appreciate how critical it is that we start a dialogue now.

When the school year starts in September, I will be available to you in a number of ways. In the meantime I would like to invite you to a ‘Meet the New Headteacher’ meeting at the Diocesan Education Centre on Thursday 4th January 13:00 – 14:00 or Friday 5th January 18:00 – 19:00. I look forward to meeting you there.

    Best wishes,

    Ollie Martindale

  • St Peter's Public Consultation Launches on 6th November

    Wed 01 Nov 2017

For full information, visit our Consultation page here.

The Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust is proposing to open a brand new primary school in September 2018. The name of the new school will be St. Peter’s CE Primary Academy and it will have its own 30 place nursery in time.

Our founding pupils will have a unique opportunity to be the first cohort to start their education at St. Peter’s. Their educational journey can then continue at any of the many surrounding secondary and grammar schools within the area.

St. Peter’s will be a non-selective school based on Christian principles, embracing all children, whatever their social background or religious and cultural heritage, as members of its one family.

St. Peter’s will be a one and a half form entry primary school and nursery, although in the initial year, there will be an intake of just 90 children. The current plan for St. Peter’s is that it will provide for up to 315 boys and girls, aged 4-11, with the potential for further building to take the school to 420 in time. We anticipate a phased growth period across the coming years.

We would like to hear from a range of stakeholders in the coming weeks to help inform the Secretary of State for Education’s decision on whether to enter into a Funding Agreement with the Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust.

We want to hear your comments and act on any feedback to ensure our school is the best it can be and meets the needs of the community we serve. You can feedback to us in a variety of ways:

    • Visit our website at and complete the online consultation questionnaire or return by email to office@dsat.org.uk, or by post to the Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust, The Avenue, Wilton SP2 0FG.
    • Attendance at one of the public drop-in events:

    a) Thursday 30th November 2017, 10am-12 noon

    b) Friday 1st December 2017, 6-8pm.

The venue for both is: Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust, The Avenue, Wilton

SP2 0FG (next to the Park and Ride).

We will record all views that are shared with us during the formal consultation window which runs between 6th November 2017 and midnight on the 4th January 2018.
