At St Peter’s CE Primary Academy our curriculum is designed to provide an ambitious, broad and knowledge rich education that prepares pupils for the next stage of their learning and for life beyond school.
Our curriculum combines secure subject knowledge with the development of communication, reasoning and enquiry, enabling pupils to apply their learning with confidence and independence. Learning is carefully sequenced so that knowledge builds progressively from pupils’ starting points through to the end of Year 6.
We place particular emphasis on the core foundations of English, mathematics, RE and science, which are taught discretely and with clear progression. Alongside this, foundation subjects are taught through structured enquiry, allowing pupils to develop both substantive knowledge and an understanding of how each discipline works.
Our curriculum is shaped by key drivers that reflect the needs of our pupils and community, ensuring children are prepared to thrive in a digital, diverse and rapidly changing world.
We are committed to working closely with families to support pupils’ learning. Parents are invited to take part in regular curriculum workshops to help them understand how learning is structured and how they can support their children at home.

At St. Peter's CE Primary Academy, all class teachers are responsible for providing a curriculum that is suitable for all pupils in the class, including those with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) with support from the SENCo. We have high expectations for all pupils and are committed to ensuring our curriculum complies with the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014. Our inclusion statement emphasises the importance of providing an inclusive learning environment for all pupils including those with SEND. Additional information on this can be found in our Special Education Needs page and within our Equalities Scheme.
