Our Prefects play an important role in supporting the day-to-day life of the school and acting as positive role models for younger pupils. Prefects are Year 6 pupils who apply for the role and are chosen for their commitment to responsibility, fairness and leadership.
Prefects are on duty during lunchtimes and assemblies, where they help to promote positive behaviour by recognising and rewarding children who are making the right choices. They give out house gems and encourage pupils to show respect for one another and for the school environment.
Through their responsibilities, Prefects actively support the teaching of British Values, particularly mutual respect, the rule of law and individual responsibility. By helping staff care for the school and modelling expected behaviour, they contribute to a safe, calm and respectful school community.
Prefects also support teachers by helping to look after the school environment and by giving tours to visitors, speaking confidently about school life and representing the school with pride. This helps to build their communication skills and sense of responsibility.
In carrying out their role, Prefects live out our school values by showing respect for others, contributing positively to our community, developing wisdom through leadership and responsibility, and demonstrating aspiration by setting high standards for themselves and others.
