Child Protection Statement

At St Peter’s CE Primary Academy, the safety, welfare and wellbeing of every child are paramount. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and all members of staff are committed to providing a safe, caring and inclusive environment in which children are protected from harm, both online and offline.

We believe that every child has the right to feel safe, to be listened to and to receive the right help at the right time. We maintain a vigilant and child-centred culture in which concerns are taken seriously, recorded appropriately and acted upon without delay. Staff receive regular safeguarding training and follow the procedures set out in Keeping Children Safe in Education and our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy.

Our curriculum plays an important role in helping children keep themselves and others safe. Through PSHE, statutory Relationships and Health Education, online safety teaching and the wider curriculum, children learn how to recognise risk, understand healthy and respectful relationships, establish appropriate boundaries and seek help when something worries them. Teaching is age appropriate and adapted to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND.

We work closely with parents, carers and relevant external agencies to safeguard children and promote their welfare. Anyone with a concern about a child should contact the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead or one of the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads without delay.

Our full Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy, together with the names and contact details of our safeguarding team, can be found below.
