St Peter’s Pupil Parliament

What is Pupil Parliament?

The Pupil Parliament is a group of pupils who work together to improve school life for everyone. Members will share ideas, gather pupil voice, and help lead projects focused on learning and classrooms, health and wellbeing, respect and friendships, diversity and inclusion, and caring for our environment and future.

The Parliament is made up of five ministries: Education, Health, Respect, Inclusion and Sustainability. Each ministry has a team of MPs and is led by a Minister. The Parliament is overseen by a Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, who help lead meetings and communicate updates. Staff will support the Parliament through roles such as Speaker, Chief Whip, Spin Doctor and Chancellor, helping pupils turn ideas into action.

Why a Pupil Parliament?

At St Peter's, we believe every child's voice matters. Our Pupil Parliament gives children the chance to take on leadership roles, make real decisions, and have a genuine, positive impact on our school community.

Pupil Parliament 2026-2027

We are thrilled to introduce our Pupil Parliament for this year! By elections will take place in December 2026 for those ministries with acting ministers.

Notable actions for the academic year 2025/26

  • Created the St. Peter's inclusion garden;
  • Undertook termly monitoring alongside senior leaders;
  • Collaborated with Salisbury Hospital regarding new children's department plans;
  • Wrote a series of White papers;
  • Led whole school assemblies on Mental Health;
  • Conducted an audit of the KS2 mental health space and resourced it with supportive books;
  • Judged the whole school speech competition;
  • Met with the governing body to discuss identified priorities.
  • Sustainability achieved the 'Green Flag' award.

Pupil Parliament 2026/2027

  • Planned and organised a fundraiser for the Nepal floods. They led an assembly and organised a bake sale.
  • Continue to work with Salisbury Hospital about redesigning the wards
