At our St Peter's, we believe that every child has the potential to be a leader. Our leadership opportunities are designed to develop confident, responsible pupils who play an active role in school life, while living out our school values of respect, community, wisdom and aspiration.
Through leadership roles, children are encouraged to use their voice, work collaboratively with others and contribute positively to the wider school community. These opportunities support the teaching of British Values, particularly democracy, individual liberty, mutual respect and the rule of law, helping pupils to understand how they can make a difference both within school and beyond.
Our leadership roles include Pupil Parliament, where children are democratically elected to ministerial roles and work under a Pupil Prime Minister, developing an understanding of the British Value of democracy and responsibility; House Captains, with pupils from Year 5 and Year 6 leading house activities, promoting teamwork and strengthening our sense of community; Prefects, where Year 6 pupils apply for roles that support the day-to-day running of the school and act as positive role models for others; and Referees, who help officiate football games at breaktimes, ensuring fair play, cooperation and respect for rules.
All leadership opportunities encourage pupils to show respect for themselves and others, contribute to a strong community, grow in wisdom through experience and reflection, and develop aspiration by taking on responsibility and aiming high. Further information about each role can be found on the individual pages linked below.
