The PSHE Graduate Award Scheme is your opportunity to deepen your knowledge and help your PSHE learning come to life beyond the classroom.

In order to become a PSHE graduate, you will need to

  • Organise and complete a charity or community event
  • Take part in regular volunteering for at least half a term

Community event

Plan and carry out a charity or community project to make a positive difference to others. This could mean raising money, supporting a charity, or helping people in your local community.

This could involve:

  • Raising money through a sponsored event (e.g. sponsored run, sponsored silence etc.)
  • Collecting items for charities (e.g. food for the food bank, clothes for charity shops etc.)

  • Taking part in a litter-picking activity around the community

  • Raising awareness for a local charity or cause

If you need any more ideas, you can speak to Ms B.

Before your event, you will need to promote it! Here are some ways you could do that:

  • Create a simple webpage about your event and share the link.

  • Make posters and display them around your local area. You could also put one in our Friday Notices.

  • Share what you are doing in class and during assembly.

  • Design invitations or flyers to hand out.

  • Create a short video explaining your event and share it (or ask for it to go on Trilby TV)

When you have finished, you will need to produce a one-page project report.

This should include:

  • What you did and why you chose it

  • How it went

  • How it benefitted the community or charity

  • Photos of your event

  • Confirmation from an adult who supervised or supported you

You can see an example of this below.

Volunteering

Choose a way to volunteer regularly for at least half a term. Volunteering means giving your time to help others, either in school or in your local community.

Volunteering opportunities in school:

  • Reading with younger children

  • Being a play leader at break or lunchtime

  • Supporting a KS1 after-school club or running your own

  • Helping adults tidy and organise the lunch hall during lunchtime

Volunteering opportunities outside of school:

  • Arriving early at your sports club to help set up equipment and stay afterwards to put it away

  • Supporting younger children at the same club during their training sessions

  • Helping with activities run by local groups, clubs, or charities. For example, you could volunteer to help at your local Rainbows or Beavers

To complete this task, you will need to fill in the volunteering log (see below) and get an adult to sign it off for you.
