Pupil induction process

Pupil induction at St Peter’s

At St. Peter's we strive to ensure that every child feels immediately welcome. We understand the importance of a smooth transfer from one school to another in order to ensure that children, who arrive new to school, feel confident, happy and secure in their new surroundings and are ready to learn. In order for this to be achieved, we follow the below induction process:

 

Before day one:

  • School tour with the Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher.
  • School office will share key information about the school, including attendance, free school meals, etc. 
  • School office organise a conversation with previous teacher and new teacher to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Class teacher given dedicated time to read Arbor and check educational and medical needs.
  • Class teacher will set up a Seesaw student and parent account.

 

By the end of day one:

  • Pupil led tour of school including behaviour policy, and safeguarding posters.
  • Pupil assigned a buddy.
  • Given a reading record.
  • Login details given for Seesaw.
  • One to one meeting between teacher and child.
  • Teacher will meet parents, carers on playground.
