    Intent

At St. Peter’s CE Primary Academy, we believe that education should develop the whole child. Alongside strong academic outcomes, we are committed to ensuring that every pupil grows into a confident, compassionate and aspirational young person who is ready to play a positive role in society.

Personal development is woven through every aspect of school life. We want our children to leave St. Peter’s not only with the knowledge and skills they need for the next stage of education, but also with the character, resilience and social awareness to thrive in modern Britain.

Aspiration sits at the heart of our approach. We work hard to broaden pupils’ horizons and ensure they understand the opportunities available to them. Through carefully planned experiences such as university visits, transition events, leadership opportunities, workshops and enrichment activities, children are encouraged to aim high and understand that their future success is within reach.

We are also proud to be a talk-rich school. Developing confident communicators is a key priority for us. Pupils regularly take part in assemblies, debates, public speaking events and pupil-led parents’ evenings, where they present their own achievements and next steps. These opportunities help children develop confidence, independence and the ability to express themselves clearly.

Pupil leadership is a genuine strength of the school. Children take on meaningful responsibilities through roles such as pupil parliament, prefects, play leaders and house captains. These roles allow pupils to contribute to school life, develop leadership skills and understand the importance of service, responsibility and teamwork.

Supporting pupils’ mental health and emotional wellbeing is equally important. We explicitly teach children how to understand themselves as learners, manage their emotions and build resilience. Through our pastoral systems, school counsellor, trained ELSA and wider wellbeing opportunities, we ensure that children feel safe, valued and supported.

By the time pupils leave St. Peter’s, they are articulate, socially responsible, emotionally aware and highly prepared for their future. They leave with the knowledge, confidence and character to succeed academically while making a positive contribution to society. Our personal development provision ensures pupils are not only successful learners, but also well-rounded individuals who are ready to thrive.
